I decided post this category also in english because many people who I trade cards are from others countries. My first post is about the city I live, Manaus, amazonia capital. Hope you like them and you you want some cards, please contact me on facebook.
O cartão postal como o nome já diz é a simplificação de uma carta . O hobby de colecionar cartões postais se chama cartofilia. Normalmente o objetivo da cartofilia é colecionar o maior número possível de cartões, as vezes sobre determinados temas. Eu coleciono de todos os tipos, mas tenho um apego muito especial aos cartões de mapas e bandeiras. Eu decidi postar a categoria de postais também em inglês já que a maioria das pessoas com quem troco são de outros países.
Para homenagear a cidade onde vivo, vou colocar alguns postais alguns postais da minha coleção de temas amazônicos.
Manaus is a city in Brazil, the capital of the state of Amazonas. It is situated at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers. It is the most populous city of Amazonas. It is located in northern Brazil, 3,940 kilometers (2,168 miles) from the federal capital, Brasília. It was known at the beginning of the century, as Heart of the Amazon and City of the Forest. Currently its main economic engine is the Industrial Pool of Manaus.It is the largest metropolitan area in Northern Brazil and the twelfth in all of Brazil, with 2,006,870 inhabitants (IBGE/2008). It is the eighth most populous city of Brazil according to data from Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, the IBGE. Manaus alone represents 10.89% of the population of the whole of Northern Brazil and 49.9% of the population of the Amazon.

The Amazonas Opera House (Teatro Amazonas) is an opera house located in the heart of Manaus, inside the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil. It is the location of the annual Festival Amazonas de Ópera (Amazonas Opera Festival) held in April.
It was built during the Belle Époque at a time when fortunes were made in the rubber boom. Construction of the Amazon Theater was first proposed in 1881 by a member of the House of Representatives, Antonio Jose Fernandes Júnior, the idea being to construct a jewel in the heart of the Amazonian forest and to make Manaus one of the great centers of civilization.
The Meeting of Waters is the confluence between the Rio Negro, a river with dark (almost black coloured) water, and the sandy-coloured Amazon River or Rio Solimões, as it is known the upper section of the Amazon in Brazil. For 6 km (3.7 mi) the river's waters run side by side without mixing. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Manaus, Brazil.
This phenomenon is due to the differences in temperature, speed and water density of the two rivers. The Rio Negro flows at near 2 km per hour at a temperature of 28°C, while the Rio Solimões flows between 4 to 6 km per hour a temperature of 22°C.
